Children Are Butterflies

Logistic Solutions UK & Europe Ltd are proud to announce that we are now official supporters of ‘Children Are Butterflies’ – a local Northampton charity who offer practical and financial support when arranging a funeral that was probably not expected and not planned for, and more importantly, emotional support through an established network of parents and families who have suffered similar losses.

Most of us couldn’t imagine the pain and grief of losing a child, but unfortunately this can happen at any time. Someone who recently had to go through this tragic experience has penned her thoughts on the charity and the work they do assisting parents through this dark time…

“My daughter, Poppy Sydney Willis, unexpectedly died during birth on the 7th July. As you can imagine all our hopes and dreams for the future died along with Poppy on that day too. Completely devastated we left the hospital two days later empty armed. The only thing that kept myself and my husband, Andy, going in the early stages was the planning of Poppy’s funeral, we wanted to send her off in style, to give her a goodbye service to make her proud. However this was extremely daunting for us, firstly because we had never really been to many funerals let alone plan one, and secondly we were still in complete shock about losing our baby daughter.

The hospital had recommended to us Hollowells funeral directors due to their kindness and compassion they had shown previous parents and they certainly outshone all our expectations. From that first meeting with Ann, our minds were put at ease, we knew our daughter was in the best of care and they were going to help us plan a beautiful goodbye service for her. From looking after Poppy – talking to her and playing her music, to creating a stunning service sheet full of her photos, nothing was too much for them.

As you can imagine the day of Poppy’s goodbye service was extremely difficult for Andy and I, but the whole morning went without a fault. Poppy arrived in the elegant, black Mercedes for us to ride with her to the crematorium, Andy carried her in while Ann offered me support whilst walking in in front of so many family and friends. Handpicked music played and readings were heard, then afterwards in the gardens we released poppy red and white balloons up to heaven. With Hollowells help, we had done what we had set out to achieve: Poppy left us in style and I knew she would have been proud.

Feeling totally overwhelmed and emotionally drained Ann drove us home. In the car was a thoughtful box of keepsakes, from hospital bands, locks of hair, glass hearts and a charity band. The band was from ‘Children are Butterflies’. This is the wonderful charity that paid for the whole of Poppy’s funeral. Ann’s family run charity helps grieving families all across the UK, they are invaluable and I really don’t know what Andy and I would have done without them. My family wanted to give something back to them because they were so brilliant to us, not just financially but emotionally too… We want to raise as much money as we can for this fantastic charity, so they can continue their brilliant work funding children’s funerals and supporting bereaved families at such an awful time.”

Our company secretary Jo “Marathon” Cayton is running the Isle of Wight Marathon on October 9th in support of Children Are Butterflies – We will update you after the event to let you know how Jo did.
